One of the beautiful things about letting your kids explore entrepreneurialism is that as they explore, you’ll be able to watch them discover their passion as well.

While they’re still young teens, give them plenty of opportunities to volunteer and try out their ideas for business. Not each attempt will result in a money making frenzy, but often they’ll make a few dollars and then realize, “you know what, I don’t like this.” That’s ok. It’s not failure, it’s learning.

My young friend recently agreed to care for a family’s youngest 3 children while the parents and the older kids went off to Europe for a few weeks. For years people have told her she should get into the child care field because she’s so wonderful with her nieces and nephews. She’s been considering starting some type of child care business or becoming a nanny or something similar.

But, after about 3 days of full-time care for children that weren’t related to her she realized … she doesn’t really even like children. She loves her nieces. She adores her nephews. But she’s not cut out to be a child care provider. Now she knows, and now she can move on to other things.

So help your kids explore. Be willing to invest a little energy and maybe even a few dollars into letting them try out an adventure or two to see. Soon you’ll see their passion emerge and so will they!
